Konstmuseet i Norr (The Art Museum of the North), in Kiruna, has existed since 2009 as a mobile and project-oriented activity, producing art projects at various venues across the entire county of Norrbotten, including various projects engaging non-art venues and site-specific works/projects. In the fall 2018, Konstmuseet i Norr will inaugurate its permanent space in the town hall of Kiruna, a five-story museum complex, with approximately 800 m2 distributed across three floors. The museum's focus is contemporary art, especially in relation to socio-political issues of the present. The museum is also committed to artistic practices engaged in the geopolitical context of the region - the county of Norrbotten, the North Calotte and Barents region of the North.

But has simultaneously engaged in an exhibition program exploring the legacy of the local art collective known as Bodenskolan (The Boden School), active in the 1950s/1960s), mostly painters. The exhibition venue is across five floors, amounting to over 2000 m2 altogether of exhibition space.
